Student Resources: FAQs

I’m interested in joining your research lab! How do I do that?

If you are a current Pitzer or Scripps student interested in research in the lab, please fill out this interest form. I’ll reach out and invite you to apply if there are available opportunities!

Will you write me a letter of recommendation?

If we know each other well, I am also happy to consider writing a letter of recommendation for you. Please take a look at my recommendation letter guidelines before reaching out to me. I can only write strong letters of recommendation for students that I know well, which usually means you have taken a class (or more) with me and spent time in my lab or serving as a TA, etc.

I want to go to grad school! Where do I start?

I’m happy to chat with you about the process of finding a program, reaching out to prospective advisors, and applying, and deciding whether a Master’s or a PhD program is the right fit for you. In the meantime, here is a useful resource about the process of applying to a research-based graduate program.

I am taking one of your classes now. Where can I find the up-to-date course schedule?

It’s on Canvas, or can be found on my linktree!
